From Common Allergies to Complex Immune Problems

People can go see Dr. Lamas for asthma, hay fever, food allergies, bad reactions to medicine, eczema, hives, sinus problems, nasal polyps and allergic skin rashes. Her office also checks out reactions caused by food, drugs or insect stings.

The practice does skin tests and blood tests to figure out what might be causing the problems. Treatment can include medicine staying away from things that cause allergies or allergy shots. The final plan depends on the patients symptoms, test results, medical history and risk of a reaction.

Dr. Lamas also does a lot of work with immunology. From Yale and Johns Hopkins to Allergy Care in Miami

She got her undergraduate degree from Harvard-Radcliffe College. Graduated with good grades. Then she went to Yale University School of Medicine. She got her degree in 1983 and became a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a group for good doctors.

She did her internship and residency at Columbia University Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital in New York. This part of her education gave her a lot of experience with adult conditions before she started working with allergies and immunology. Dr. Lamas did her fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She finished her education in allergy and clinical immunology in 1988.

Dr. Lamas studied something called eosinophils at Johns Hopkins. These white blood cells play a role in many allergic conditions. Her research led to articles in journals and chapters in immunology textbooks. She also got some awards for her work. They included a Young Investigator Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and research support from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

After her fellowship Dr. Lamas went back, to Miami. Joined the University of Miami School of Medicine as a professor. She took care of hospital patients ran the Adult Allergy and Immunology Clinic had a research laboratory and taught students and resident doctors and she later joined her fathers allergy practice in the mid-1990s. She added immunology services and now runs the same practice.

The Florida Department of Health says Dr. Lamas medical license ME54784 is okay and active. State records also confirm that she is certified through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Baptist Health says she is currently certified in both medicine and allergy and immunology.
